John Rapski - Mineral exploration permit

Description of instrument

John Rapski has submitted an application to the Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and mines to amend an existing exploration permit as required under the Mining Act for prescribed early exploration activities.

The activities that this permit would allow Mr. Rapski to carry out are as follows:

• >20 pads for mechanized drilling (assembled weight >150 kg)
• 150 m2 of mechanized stripping
• 4 pits/trenches
• 60 km linecutting

An Exploration Permit does not relieve the proponent from compliance with any other requirements that are set out under the Mining Act or any other Act. Further all activities included in the Exploration Permit proposal must be carried out in compliance with O Reg. 308/12 and the Provincial Standards for Early Exploration.

The duration of amended Exploration Permit will be for the same period of time as the original permit and still have the possibility of one renewal.

Other information

As of March 28^th, 2017 According to O. Reg. 308/12, s. 16(1).1 the permit has been placed on temporary hold. There are concerns raised by an Aboriginal community whose existing or asserted Aboriginal or treaty rights are potentially affected by the proposed exploration activity which, in the opinion of the Director, warrant additional time to adequately consider.
