GFL Environmental Services Inc. - Environmental Compliance Approval (waste)

This proposal is for a new Environmental Compliance Approval (waste disposal site), for GFL Environmental Services Inc., for the use and operation of a waste transfer/processing facility with a total site area of 5.7 hectares, located at 626 Polymoore Drive, Corunna, Ontario.

The function of the site is to receive, process (mix, consolidate, solidify and transfer) liquid industrial wastes, and non- hazardous waste to other Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks approved recycling/disposal facilities, and establish a soil management facility (SMF) on a designated portion of the site.

The site footprint will include a 225 square meter concrete pad with containment curbs to provide stability for up to eight double wall above-ground storage tanks with a maximum capacity of 60,000 liters each;

• a 170 square meter concrete pad with containment curbs to provide stability for up to three 53 foot trailers used for the temporary storage of drums, totes and pails of liquid industrial waste and non-hazardous waste
• a 140 square meter mixing and solidification pad with containment curbs, having a maximum storage capacity of 100 tonnes (solidification pad will be separated into operational and storage areas by a centrally located lip and located within a 500 square meter fabric shelter building comprised of concrete reinforced containment walls, and concrete reinforced slab)
• parking of up to 25 vehicles on the general site that will include:
  • hydrovacs
  • vacuum trucks
  • bulk tankers
  • flusher and camera truck
  • straight body trucks
  • high pressure blasting units
  • emergency response (ER) trailer
  • tractor units with dry van trailers
• a 1,486 square meter fabric shelter building comprised of concrete reinforced containment walls, concrete reinforced slab, fabricated steel structure, with fabric enclosure used for the temporary storage of soil (storage, screening area and treatment area)
• 1,115 square meter tarped granular pad adjacent to the fabric shelter building used for the storage of soil (temporary storage area); wastes will be collected from industrial and commercial clients within the Province of Ontario

The facility may receive, ship, and process waste 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
