Détails de la décision
The Minister approved the amendment on August 12, 2020.
The approved amendment reflects a site-specific set of permitted uses that permit the re-establishment of an outdoor education centre with a focus on natural science and Indigenous education. Niagara Escarpment Commission staff are of the opinion that this type of institutional use, and associated recreation uses and uses of cultural significance supports the purpose and objectives of the Niagara Escarpment Plan and provides significant positive public benefits. Additionally, the proposed use supports the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Biosphere Reserve designation by achieving the objectives of research and education, sustainable development, and the sharing and use of indigenous knowledge.
Effets de la consultation
Niagara Escarpment Commission staff considered all the comments received. No objections were received.
Modifications to the proposed amendment that were brought forward during the consultation period were considered and assessed in drafting the final proposed amendment document dated May 16, 2019.
