This permit asks to remove an inconceivably huge amount of water every day from a fragile and irreplaceable relic beach on Lake Huron. This permit request, associated with a commercial development on the relic beach, raises serious questions about the impact of the water removal on the relic beach and the entire lake ecosystem. Removal of that much ground water from a fragile ecosystem will inevitably have a huge impact on the sand, lake water, fish and wildlife, and the ecosystem as a whole. The permit request is also based on an outdated site plan, which should be updated before the permit is considered at all. Please refuse this proposed water removal as the cost to the environment will be too large to justify, and will leave a legacy of mismanagement of a fragile ecosystem that cannot be restored once ruined.
