The EBR process for this proposal is severely flawed. I had requested review of the ECA Amendment application – in a format suitable given the restrictions of COVID-19, approximating what would have been available otherwise – on March 5, 2021. I had two follow-on emails with the MECP to remind them of my request (Mar. 17 and 29). At each point I was told the “responsive unit” would “get back to me”.
As of end-of-day today (April 7, 2021) the MECP has provided no information regarding this application.
How are we to understand the environmental impacts and benefits of a project if the government’s process fails? This is an important project for the proponent and the Province. The MECP must do better.
