I am a resident just east of the location the dirt is and live on Deverell Cres. We have had issues with the volume and size of the dirt that has effected us greatly and had a huge impact on our day to day living and experience in the community. The dust that comes in the air from the dirt is continuously getting worse and literally we can not keep our cars clean for more than an hour or two before the dust starts to be visible. If we leave our windows open the dust that enters our residence is more than normal accumulation and directly related to the dirt pile on Apex. Our backyard patio furniture including our tables, seating and pool are also effected and show huge amounts of dust and dirt/sand build up that is far greater than “normal” dust accumulation. I personally am allergic to dust and constantly battle with the dust in the area. When driving along Wilson Ave between Keele and Dufferin the road dirt dust and debris is also constant. The size and pile of dirt only seems to increase year after year and it seems no consideration is being given to the local residents. How the pile of dirt is permitted to be taller than the two story buildings directly north of the location blows my mind. I could not imagine how they feel to look out their windows and that is the view that they have. It’s time for changes to be made and change the bylaws to remove these types of businesses in residential areas. I can’t imagine and almost don’t want to know what my family including my two small children are ingesting as we live in this area that is directly effected by the westerly wind that drives and brings this constant dust to our home. When does it stop? When does the health and community take priority over this type of business. If this was happening in forest hill or other more affluent areas would this still be an ongoing issue??? Happy to discuss further or get more involved if required.
