I am concerned about this site as part if the bigger picture of what us happening with septage in Whitewater Region. This location is currently used to graze cattle. It has been licensed as a sewage spreading site in a precious license and has not been used for that purpose. While I have not walked on the land, the entry way shows not signs of truck traffic like at the other locations where dumping has been occurring. Is the purpose of this licensing this site to allow the company to increase its overall permitted septage volume which then gets distributed to other sites? I have serious concerns about practises at the other sites and the volume of septage being spread within in a small kilometre radius.
Pembroke now has a treatment centre which can handle the septage from our tanks. We don't have to take grazing land out of commission by spreading untreated septage anymore. The practice, for our region, is outdated and no longer acceptable.
