I would strongly suggest that the mining permit not be granted to Pistol Bay mining until the Wabauskang First Nation can been consulted and who's consent has been granted. If they have not given there consent then Pistol Bay mining shouldn't be granted this permit. Furthermore, due to the COVID-19 still raging across Ontario it would be ill-advised to create an environment that could easily become hotspot for COVID-19 cases. Combined with the the Wabauskang First Nation an isolated nation makes this a disaster waiting to happen. All that being said, it remains unclear just what exactly the Wabauskang First Nation will be getting in return if mining does begin. In addition, I'd like to ask what is the Ministry's plan when mining is finished in the region? If it is simply to leave the area resulting in the Indigenous people to face the consequences of this government's action then that is irresponsible and disrespectful. If that is to be the case then I strongly urge this ministry to deny Pistol Bay mining a mining license.
