As residents of Gormley we are exposed to the emissions from DMS. The chemical emissions are unhealthy to start, but to what extent and danger are they when there's a fire. Also, being on Oakridges Moraine and a very high water table, we wonder how much is leeching into our water system, we're all on wells in Gormley. And isn't it supposed to be only light Industrial now here in Gormley?
Also, the noise emission we've noticed has really increased. Epecially at night in the summer, when we have our windows open! We hear loud banging going on till 11pm at night or later sometimes. It's noise pollution!
There have been three or four fires st DMS and there are no fire hydrants there. This recent fire took 15 or more hours to contain. All those chemicals leech into our water table and there's also farming on the lands surrounding DMS! We know there's been complaints to the town over the many years DMS has been there, but nothing seems to have changed or gets resolved? What has to happen or what can be done to fix this? This is 2020, and with so much discord over the environment and the changes over recent years, is DMS operating within these new standards and guidelines and are they accountable to some entity or governing body? DMS has been operating there for many years, wouldn't that land have to sit vacant for 10 years if it ever changed hands or was shut down? Now am rambling, that's it.
