I am against this proposal for many reasons. I have grown up in the area and have spent 40 years enjoying its natural beauty. The area hosts a substantial old growth forest, beautiful granite outcroppings and is a very popular canoe and recreational area. It has original ( nastawgans) aboriginal portages which connects the entire area. They are a part of the heritage of the area and should be preserved.
The area still has not been cleaned up from previous exploration efforts. Old equipment is still left in the bush as are old oil drums, hoses and various amounts of industrial waste. To the best of my knowledge no one seems to monitor or enforce environmental laws. Flag resources ( or any exploration company) should be held responsible for clean up and should not be issued any more permits until the previous sites have been brought back to its original conditions.
