Please accept my comments below for this proposal. I am a resident of Hamilton and concerned citizen.
This proposal is problematic in the following ways:
1. The published measurements for contaminants are questionable and should be audited by the provincial Ministry of Environment. In addition, the measurement for manganese is already almost at the maximum from one company in the area. The total levels of manganese in Hamilton's industrial area should be considered as part of this application.
2. Noise - It is unacceptable to allow increased levels of noise pollution between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. In addition, using piles of scrap as a sound barrier is also unacceptable. Fire regulations do not allow a height for scrap higher than 10 feet when the scrap contains combustible materials.
Hamilton has had its share of industrial pollution and fires (e.g. Plastimet). The health and safety of people in this city must be considered when reviewing this application by Triple M.
