My family and I are not happy about this situation. This galvanizing plant is going to be within 600 m of my home and many others' homes. There are many families with kids and pets that live in the Hornell Heights area and will be affected. On the notice we received it talks about emissions. Hydrogen chloride gas can cause irritation of the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. Hydrogen chloride gas is highly corrosive and will damage metal structures and buildings or monuments made of limestone. If high levels of Hydrogen chloride gas dissolve in a water body, aquatic organisms will be harmed and even killed. This can be a result of an accidental spill of Hydrogen chloridet. The very high solubility of Hydrogen chloride gas means that releases to the atmosphere are quickly washed out by rain and moisture in the air. Some soils and lakes may be sensitive to this acid rain if amounts of it falling are above certain amounts defined as "critical loads". This makes Hydrogen chloride pollution a global as well as local environmental problem. How do we know that the emissions will be within "acceptable" levels, if there is such a thing considering there are homes and families living so close to this proposed plant? What happens if there is a spill? Accidents do happen? Can we also guarantee that the company is going to uphold the standards? How many companies have been in the news for not adhering to proper safety guidelines or environmental standards because it costs them too much? With this plant being so close to my home and family, I do not feel comfortable about this at all. The notice also talks about noise emissions. Many of the people that live in Hornell Heights are shift workers and sleep during the day. This plant being so close will obviously create noise pollution and cause issues for them. Also, who wants to go and sit outside their house and hear a factory close by? Yes we are near an airport with planes taking off throughout the day, but those noises aren't constant and planes are much more pleasant than a production factory makning noise.

I do not have an issue with factories, or production plants, or Galvanizing Plants in general. Business is business. But these types of places should not be near any places where people live. My kids love to play outside any chance they can get, and I do not want a plant polluting the air and enivironment where they play. We like taking walks in the rain. WIll this plant make it so that there is a risk to this? We also plant a garden in this area. WIll this make it so that the vegetables that we grow will be contaminated? Even if it is small amounts, it will still cause an impact.

I am against this plant being built and run in this area.

My two cents. Please don't do this.
