Re: Environmental Registry Number 019-0341.
Application number 56-T-182756
I would like to file an appeal of the proposal of this application. My husband and I are owners of a cottage on Munro Lake, and are becoming very concerned about our water quality. We have recently been notified about increasing levels of phosphates, and bacterial and algae growth in the lake. We have also noticed an increase in the number of motorized boats and water vehicles in the past few years.
If approved, this subdivision would result in a 15% increase in the total number of properties. We feel that the lake has already reached it’s capacity to support the existing lots and fear that the proposed increase in the number of developed properties will put extra stress on the environment. This will in turn affect the health of the wildlife in the area as well as the well being of all of the cottagers.
Another concern is that there are a few large lots that are privately owned and are large enough to be subdivided at a later date. If this proposal is successful, there may be other applications in the future.
One of the reasons that we invested in our property ten years ago, is that we were under the impression that the lake would be protected from over population, and that it would be healthy for our children and grandchildren to enjoy, both presently and in the future. We trust that the Ministry of Environment will protect our ecosystem by preventing any further development. We would like to be notified of the decision of the Minister with respect to this proposal.
