this application does not describe in any detail, the proposed uses of these natural gas boilers,
charring exhaust, and does not describe in any detail the level of additional anticipated pollution
released as a direct result of the presumed approval of this application and subsequent
installation or operation of this equipment.
The application is being made for a facility immediately surrounded by mixed residential and
commercial zones and city owned and operated parkland. the residents of the immediate area have
reported this and other immediately adjoining businesses to ministry staff regarding excessive
odour, pollution and concerns relating to emissions from this plant.
in 2018, local residents have increased reporting and noted increasing frequency of emissions from
the area. there does not appear to have been any increased inspection, enforcement, nor do some
residents feel the matter of poor air quality, pollution and oversight is being addressed in this
particular area.
as a resident of the adjoining neighborhood, I do not support this application, and cannot provide
any constructive criticism based on the lack of information provided with this application.
while additional emissions are noted, are they within acceptable limits? will there be enhanced
monitoring by ministry staff to ensure compliance? how can the community effectively consult in
this process with no more than a short paragraph and bullet points describing the application?
other members of the community have stated similar concerns, and upon requesting access to the full
application, were denied due apparently to privacy restrictions governing the release of this
information.
