As a resident of the Stockyards neighbourhood, I am opposed to the release of more toxic emissions
into our air. As it stands there are enough toxins in the air due to the slaughterhouses and meat
packing plants in the area. We have to live here, breathe here, and it is detrimental to the
neighbourhood to continue to increase the emissions of toxins such as ammonia into our air. There
is no need for slaughtering animals in a residential neighbourhood. This area has changed
significantly over the years, with new residential and commercial properties. The amount of people
using this space is increasing, so why would it make sense to allow even more of this into our
environment. There is a beautiful, newly constructed parkland/playground/splash pad right beside
these polluting industries, and it is very unfortunate that people from this area cannot use it due
to the toxins in the air. I have to take my child to other parks because I feel it is detrimental
to our health to be in the immediate area. I cant afford to move away, nor can many in in this
area, so please do not accept the proposals for increased emissions from these slaughterhouses and
meat packing plants as they are affecting our health and quality of life. People should be more
important than polluting industries, and thats the bottom line. Thank you.
