I am saying NO to the proposal to increase emissions at the St. Helen's Meat Packers.
St. Helen's shows it's lack of care for the growth of our neighbourhood by requesting the
following:
"Contaminant emissions to the atmosphere include chlorine dioxide, lactic acid, nitrogen oxides,
noise, and odour.”
Our area already experiences a strong stench from this industry, and the surrounding residence have
lodged multiple complaints to both the city and the ministry of the environment with no
changes...Only to come to understand that they want to add even more??
We are a growing community with more children, more young adults, and an aging population all of
whom could suffer negative health affects. Our area (York South Weston) already has double the
rates of asthma and breast cancer of any other ward in Toronto.
The risks far outweigh the community benefits.
