I believe that this proposal for an Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational
Flexibility (Air & Noise) should be declined. As a new resident to the area, the stockyards in West
Toronto are a thing of the past. This area is now heavily populated and an area that is continuing
to grow. Many of the pockets offer somewhat more affordable housing attracting young families and
first-time home buyers. By the approval of this application, the Ontario government is clearly
stating that they care more about corporations, then building affordable communities that are
sustainable and environmentally friendly. This neighborhood has already been dealt a blow with the
approval of the new purchase of land by St. Helen’s (Another meat processing plant) at 200
Rockcliffe Court across for a school and green space. The government needs to acknowledge that this
area has evolved and that these types of operations don’t belong in communities.
