The proposal to authorize the opening of a huge quarry in lands adjacent to the Queen Elizabeth II
Wildlands raises great concern for the stability of the wild animal population in the region. Have
studies been completed which evaluate this impact? Similarly, drawing enormous amounts of ground
water, as proposed will inevitably affect the availability of water in the area. In addition, it
is likely that water quality will be negatively impacted as well. Have studies been completed to
evaluate this potential for damage to the water supplies? It would be much too hasty to proceed
with this project without complete certainty that animal life and water quality are fully
protected, in keeping with Liberal government policies and existing statutes.
