To: Darryl Hagman, Aggregate Technical Specialist, Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, c/o MNRF, Aylmer Office April, 2017 Dear Mr. Hagman, I’d like to comment on EBR numbers: 012-9852, 012-9850, 012-9849, 012-9848, 012-9845, 012-9843 I am greatly concerned that the community now has little to no information on what the progressive and final rehabilitation of the site would include. • Would there be an attempt at restoring the land to agricultural capability? • Is the plan for the creation of recreation or parkland for future use of the community, in an effort to support active recreation? • Will there be any guarantee of efforts to create potential habitat for native animal and plant species, or to increase local biodiversity? • Will the quality of the proposed lake areas be appropriate for supporting community recreation and native aquatic species, such as fish, or would Carmeuse be allowed to use them for industrial sewage discharge, as they do the current lake on their property? • Would the MNRF ensure that the land meets the highest quality rehabilitation requirements, with a specified final rehabilitation quality that would benefit our community? • Or would your ministry be content with a plan that provides for "open space" that would be used in the future for whatever Carmeuse Lime and/or their business partners plan to use the property for after a full or partial surrendering of their licence? Our community deserves to know the answers to these questions in advance of any decision.
