I was unable, like many others in my community, to make this presentation at an earlier Council meeting, due to a technical failure of the EBR site, which frustrated many of us and prevented even the most basic access to the limited information on the EBR. This was confirmed by MNRF employee Mitch Wilson, District Manager, Aylmer District March 14th email stating that: “It is my understanding that you may have had technical challenges accessing the Environmental Registry postings related to Carmeuse Lime Limited. As a result, the ministry is prepared to offer you additional time to provide comment on the proposals. Please contact Darryl Hagman as soon as possible to discuss this opportunity at 519 773-4747.” I am grateful for the thirty day extension that was provided and that the EBR site was made accessible after this. These circumstances, however, prevented our community from presenting our concerns to Zorra Council in a timely manner since we did not have information on the proposal. To date we are still unable to comment on the exit off County Rd 6 because there is not a diagram or any information on where this is to be located. In addition neither the Township or the County office had copies of the most current site plans for licence 2136. As a result of our inability to provide input to Council until today, it is my understanding that Council has a desire to provide comment to the EBR but will not be able to do so before midnight. It is also my understanding that they will be requesting an extension for Council to be able to make comment on this posting and have it considered in the MNRF’s decision regarding Carmeuse’s application. Given the circumstances, the delay in access to the actual postings due to technical difficulties and the lack of information available to the public, the MNRF should allow the Counties request to have additional time to comment.
