Copy of letter sent to Jason McLay. Please contact him regarding the pictures. I have removed all of our personal information. Ministry of Natural Resources And Forestry Owen Sound Area Office 1450 7th Avenue East Owen Sound, Ontario N4K 2Z1 Attention: Mr. Jason McLay Aggregate Technical Specialist Dear Sir: Re: Owen Sound Ledgerock Major Site Plan Amendment Licence Nos. 4827 and 118509 __________________________________

First we find it hard to believe that this was just a ‘mistake. We have serious concerns with the following: -Locations and noise of pumps. With the amount of water that they will encounter, the diesel pumps will be running 24/7 as they currently do on licence no. 118509. We can hear the diesel pump on licence no. 118509 running at our residence on a quiet evening. We strongly disapprove of the noise from diesel pumps, gas pumps or generators to run electric pumps when being used outside of agreeable work hours. It was explained to us at the information session that an electric pump that runs on hydro would be quiet. We disagree with the location of the pumping station no. 4 being located so close to our residence. Why would the location of the pump and/or station not be further to the south where there are no residences. -Fencing. It appears from the site plans that the ponds are not going to be fenced neither are the east and west boundaries. We have no agreement regarding fencing. We don’t understand why the boundaries are not to be fenced or the ponds. Even a swimming pool must be fenced. -The water pipe line as shown on the site plan we seen at the information session showed it on the north side of Greig Settlement Road. On our emailed version it appears to be on the south side of Greig Settlement. We would like to be sure it is going to be on the north side of Greig Settlement Road. -The cleanliness of the water being pumped back into the water system is a major concern. We have witnessed water in the surrounding area with an oil film on it. We have attached pictures from on the quarry site 1A that clearly show pollutants in the water that was being pumped. In the past we have had their quarry water pumped on to the southeast corner of our land, pictures attached. As you can see by the pictures there have been serious issues in the past. Quite frankly, this scares the hell out of us. What recourse do we have if this quarry operation affects our flow rate of water or our stability of clean water? -Hours of operation. As this is our residence and we have the right to enjoy it, the hours of operation on the site plans for 4827 and 118509 are way too long for being next door to residences. We would have no problem with the hours of operation being Monday – Friday, 7 am to 5 pm. No Saturdays, no Sundays, no statutory holidays. Absolutely no processing, building, pumps of any kind running, back up beepers, generators of any kind and all and any heavy equipment used in the course of a quarry operation outside of the above noted hours. -We wonder how much land can be opened up and remain open at any one time? There are areas of land on licence no. 118509 that have been opened for 45 years or better and never been rehabilitated. -No asphalt plants on site for licence no. 4827 and licence no. 118509. -We want notification of all changes and or amendments no matter how small or insignificant they may seem that are being applied for at any level of government. Once again we have a hard time believing that this was a ‘mistake’. How come this ‘mistake’ was not discovered when the EH lands of the southwest corner of the quarry licence no. 118509 was amended 15 years ago? This has been our place of residence for 27 years with Municipal/County approval. We pay residential property taxes. I can guarantee that not one person reading this letter would want to sit outside on a nice summer evening, have a BBQ, watch the moon come up, relaxing with family and friends and listen to a pump or a saw or a fan or any other type of noise on a nice quiet night. Please do not subject us to that. Somebody has to stand up and take responsibility for decisions made in the past to come to a reasonable/agreeable solution for everyone involved. We look forward to hearing from you.
