I believe the following studies should be done before further consideration of this application: - Cumulative Impact Study, due to the high number of active pits already in this agricultural community. How are these pits and quarries collectively affecting the community, wildlife, the aquifer, drinking water, etc.? - Noise Impact Study, due to the proximity of several neighbouring farm residences, many at higher elevation than the proposed pit site. - Traffic Impact and Safety Study, the proposed road access from the pit is at the base of a hill, this road already sees a high volume of gravel truck traffic and farm machinery traffic as well as being a school bus route. Prime farmland (AG1) is being taken over at an alarming rate in this agricultural Municipality which has virtually no urban settings. This trend is taking away this community's sole sustainable resource. While other pits in the area promise rehabilitation to agricultural use in time, this application does not, with the exception of 1 small section. For the Hydrogeology Study the creek on the proposed pit site was not monitored long enough to get an accurate base line reading for future reference. MOE well records are inaccurate, the Hydrogeology Study was based on incomplete and inaccurate information. In the application there was no explanation of how dust pollutants would be controlled.
