I hereby wish to register my concerns/questions as a resident of the Town of Erin regarding the following issues: 1. TRAFFIC CONCERNS: The expansion will allow for a doubling of the annual tonnage to be extracted (1.8 M tonnes) from both the existing licenced pit (5602) and the proposed site. The 1976 OMB ruling on Licence 5602 had request the applicant to address merging truck traffic on to Charleston Rd by installing a merging lane east bound on Charleston and a turning lane on Charleston west bound onto Winston Churchill. With 75 % of JDCL’s truck traffic going north on Winston Churchill, east on Charleston, coupled with other aggregate trucks from Halton Crush Stone (#5598 725,600 tonnes) sharing the same haul route makes this corner an area for high truck–turnings. In addition, the traffic of the first 3 neighbouring pits listed below could conceivably turn or pass through this intersection, (the last 3 area pits are assumed to travel Orangeville/Caledon Town line, east, or Erin/Amaranth town line, west)) 1. Halton Crushed Stone # 5685 454,000 tonnes 2. UAJV DEVELOPMENTS # 5531 500,000 tonnes 3. CBM #15353 750,000 tonnes 4. Universal Sand & Gravel Limited # 3686 900,000 tonnes 5. Township of East Garafraxa #625233 60,000 tonnes 6. Greenwood Construction (#80956,10606,3684,3685) 1,100,000 tonnes Moreover, it is highly suggested that the municipalities of both Erin and Caledon jointly address the intersection of Bush Street (a.k.a CR#52) and Winston Churchill. This “jagged” intersection is located within a curve in an 80 KM/hr zone and serves all (slower) truck traffic west bound onto cr#52. The Transportation Impact Study, prepared by Paradigm Transportation Solutions Limited, did not adequately address this high volume, cumulative effect of both intersections. Will these issues be addressed? 2. WATER TABLE CONCERNS: 2a. Residential water wells: In mining below the water table, we would like to have a solid and formal assurance in writing from the applicant that the residential water wells in a 2 kilometre surrounding area are not compromised in either flow rate or quality. Please confirm? 2b. West Credit River: In light of the ongoing Erin’s Wastewater EA and the likely outflow of effluent between 10th Line and Winston Churchill, please confirm that the activities while operating under the water table and after rehabilitation of either Site 5602 or the proposed site, will not negatively alter the flow rate, the volume or quality of the West Credit River. Please include my name and contact details to be notified for all future details on this application. By this letter, we also ask that the MNRF notify the undersigned when the public can comment on the revision to Licence 5602 when the final rehabilitation plans are submitted for approval by the MNRF. Thank you
